Description

Cotswold Downs is a magnificent 18-hole Championship signature golf course, designed by South Africa’s renowned golf course designer, Peter Matkovich. The golf course is built to USGA specifications and as such boasts world class putting surfaces and is maintained all round to international standards. Cotswold Downs was rated by Complete Golfer in 2008 as the best conditioned in golf course in KZN and one of the finest in the country, since receiving this award the course itself has matured to point that playing Cotswold Downs is a must for any golfer when living or traveling to the Zulu Kingdom.A COURSE ON THE RISE
The Golf Club recently hosted the World Amateur Golf Championship competition and looks likely to host the inaugural World Club Pro Am in March 2013. The honour of being awarded this prestigious event underlines and supports the rave reviews that Cotswold Downs Golf Course has received from golfers and journalists both local and international.
GOLF & NATURE
The Cotswold Downs golf course is a model of excellent design in which golf and nature go hand in hand. The topography provides for some spectacular views from tee boxes, fairways and greens while the wetlands, ponds and dams create outstanding natural water features. As a finishing touch, bent grass greens create a superior putting surface.

The elevation of the land allows for the estate homes and the golf to blend in well without interfering with each other. The layout is designed in such a way that strike lines are much further than at any other golf estate, which means that homes on the estate will not intrude on the golf course and vice versa.

Cotswold Downs is definitely a very challenging course, being a carts only course the occasional use of your own personal range finder is just around the corner. But hit a long drive off the Tee and Cotswold becomes a short Driver and Wedge course on most of the par fours. If you are looking for something a bit more challenging then try play of the championship tees, where a long shot not placed strategically might just ad a shot or three to that final scorecard. The greens generally do run true, being recently sanded it does run a bit slower but still the greens perform as a bent grass. The greens are noticeably dry and does not always produce the amount of spin one would want with a short iron or wedge shot. Club house and surrounding facilities are all on par and up to date. Definitely a must play course with World Class Bunkers and Greens.5
